THIS. This must be reblogged. For fangirls everywhere!
#Honestly out of all the NewWho Doctors #I think Nine does ~comfort the best #which is hilarious because he’s so harsh #but he’s also the one that’s fresh from the Time War and understands how raw circumstances can be #So he’s the one who’s so willing to say ”look at me I’m stupid” #or ”streetcorner 2 in the morning getting a taxi home - I’ve never had a life like that” #it’s more effective because because unlike Ten and Eleven #Nine does self-deprecating comfort that translates so much better (and he does it so much more often too) #Because instead of just saying ”aww it’s okay you’re not stupid” #he says ”it’s okay i’m stupid too - being stupid sometimes isn’t bad. everyone is stupid sometimes. #but making stupid decisions also means you have the potential to make clever decisions. I believe that you can do this. You can fix it.” #and that to be honest is the most brilliant feeling in the world: #knowing that despite your ~shortcomings someone still believes in you and is willing to fight for you #Nine you are so wonderful and not enough people recognize that (via: winterinthetardis)
Sometimes I just think about the incredible amount of pain Tony Stark must go through every day; the pain of just being alive because he has an arc reactor wired into his chest, taking up the space where his thymus and upper right atrium if his heart should be, as well as his sternum, which is meant to protect those very organs. Imagine if someone hugs him too tight? Or, if something hits him in the chest and his arc reactor just rips through his body, crushing his vena cava, the branches of his aorta, his thymus, his trachea, his bronchi, his esophagus, his spine, his heart for god’s sake? He has a metal nuclear generator wired into his ribcage…how does his skin heal around it? How tightly does it hold? What is the pain like? Is that why he drinks, to numb the pain? Is that why he drives himself to exhaustion? Because he’s living a chronic pain nightmare every day. The suit and him are one, because when he’s using the suit, the arc reactor is keeping alive more than it is killing him. Tony is Iron Man, because if he weren’t made of stronger stuff, he would be dead.
[[ This. This is what I’m talking about—He feels the difference. Because it isn’t like a donor organ. He can feel that thing in his chest. He can feel the metal grinding, he can feel the weight of the brace and housing unit, he can feel everything, and guess what? It’s fucking painful. Oh sure, you can get used to something over a period of time, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. That doesn’t mean sometimes when he twists the wrong goddamn way, or gets in a fight which would ordinarily leave him with a couple of careless bruises, that it doesn’t ache beyond anything—And know what? He lives with it. He shuts up, he deals with it, and he continues to put himself in situations where he can be hurt, because he’s a stronger man than he gives himself credit for, and more self sacrificing, and he’ll never see it in himself.
Reasons why Tony Stark is, and always will be, my hero. ]]
THIS WAS UNCALLED FOR
